Having hosted several dinner parties and meeting great people, this round I am doing it a bit differently. My table is usually loaded with food, so much so that there are hardly any space .Now I will serve it in courses.
This event will see a change in the way my food is served. Instead of Malaysian Style, the food will be served Western Style, ie, in courses. 2018 ushers in a new year so a little change is good.
If you are suffering from left-over hang-over, come over to my home and have a tasty and healthy meal.
I am sharing my family favourites, some old and some new ones. This menu is not exactly Malaysian, but more of a 'Eurasian'. Where I come from, we refer to people of mixed heritage, i.e., of Caucasian and Asian heritage, as Eurasians. Technically speaking Malaysian food is fusion food as it combines Chinese, Malay and Indian cooking. So now this menu is more of European, or rather Eurasian.
Menu
Welcome drinks and nibbles
A vegetable soup to keep you warm
Chicken and Cranberry Baked Rice
Oven baked chicken thighs with cranberries and seasoning. This is an 'East Meets West' dish with Chinese and Western influence. Juicy chicken thighs are seasoned in aromatic spices and seasoning and fried and then baked in rice. The result is a feast for the eyes and the stomach!
Served with Stir-fried Vegetables (Depending on what fresh vegetables I can get on the day).
We finish the meal with Torta de Santiago - A luscious, home made Spanish Almond Tart served with warm custard, a family favourite
Tea and Coffee
There is plenty of non-alcoholic drinks, juice and water available.
There is off-road parking.
If you have any allergy do let me know.

This was our first supper with WeFiFo and Loretta made us very welcome. We were a group of three friends. Loretta cooked a delicious three course Malaysian meal and taught us the correct way to use chopsticks for the noodles. The main course was Lorbak; a pork dish and family favourite that Loretta had learned to cook as a child with her mother. Loretta joined us at the table and told us many stories about food and life in Malaysia. She is a witty host and a first class cook. In summary- a super evening, well worth the money, making new friends over superb food.

This was our first event and the Host made us most welcome (we were a bit early at their house) and the other 4 guests (that we did not know at all) were a good bunch as we had Great food and good conversation at the table. There was plenty of food and the Soup was Superb (best ever) and the Desert idea was novel and tasty.

Loretta was a lovely and very good host and I was made to feel very welcome. Each course of the Afternoon Tea was explained in detail with the ingredients content and how it was prepared/cooked, everything was tasty and new to my taste buds. A lovely introduction to Malaysian cuisine. Thank-you Loretta & hope to see you again soon.
