Home cooks of any ability can immediately begin their career with WeFiFo but in order to maximise the experience (and the earning opportunity), it is important to progress through each one of the stages. Your progression is driven by you, at a pace decided by you.
There are five levels of cook at WeFiFo:
- Pioneer
- Novice
- Home Cook
- Home Chef
- Pro
Your level on the WeFiFood Chain determines how much commission we deduct from your seat sales. This commission is used to run and develop WeFiFo as a platform, insure you for every event, provide health and safety training (available, free of charge, for every host) market your events and provide round the clock customer service support.
Both Pioneers and Pros are by 'invitation only' so here we'll look at how you progress through the WeFiFood Chain from Novice to Home Chef.
Everyone begins their career at WeFiFo by registering as a WeFiFo Novice. You won't be a Novice for long but it is all about learning the ropes and focusing on achieving promotion as quickly as possible in order to maximise your opportunity.
We strongly recommend you don't charge more than £10 per head to begin with. We also recommend that you don't serve more than six guests at a sitting while you get to grips with the many different aspects of hosting (and making money out of) a WeFiFo event.
As a WeFiFo Novice you can pick and choose which reviews you post and there is no obligation to post a negative review. The reviews you receive from your first few events should be taken as constructive criticism, helping you to shape and refine your event. If all your events are glowing then post them all and get yourself promoted!
In order to be promoted you must achieve certification from WeFiFo and there are three ways in which this can be achieved:
Through Ratings and Reviews Promotion
Promotion is open to everyone! You do not need to be a professional cook or chef but you will need to get some practice in and demonstrate you can offer great food, great value and a lovely atmosphere. In order to achieve promotion the WeFiFo Novice must host a minimum of five events and must post a minimum of ten reviews before automatically progressing to WeFiFo Home Cook.
Through WeFiFo automatic promotion
If you're already in the food business, a successful supper clubber, a professional chef or an experienced event host, we can promote you immediately, which will help you to maximise your earnings. We're constantly on the look out for people like you so we'll quickly be in touch if we know you have the skills! If you think you've gone unnoticed and we're not giving you the acclaim you deserve, you can email us at hello@wefifo.com using the subject line "Actually, I’m awesome" or you can ask your friends to bombard us on twitter using the hashtag #ThisCookIsAwesome
Through Secret Diner Certification
Yes, it's true! We have an army of secret diners out there, posing as regular guests and one of them could be booking a seat at your table right now! Our undercover diners have the power to promote you on the spot – but in order to do so, they'll need to be WOWed by the food, the value, the atmosphere and the event as a whole.
The WeFiFo Home Cook can begin to charge a bit more for a seat at their table. However, it is recommended that a Home Cook charges between £10 and £20 per head during this phase as the cook’s focus should be on offering great value for money as they build their reputation amongst local diners. Eating in a host's house should always feel better value than a local restaurant. As well as regularly hosting events, the WeFiFo Home Cook should be refining their skills, making sure they can operate a profitable business on a managed budget and improving their communication and marketing techniques. A WeFiFo Home Cook must host twelve events within a twelve month period and receive twenty before qualifying for promotion to Home Chef. All reviews (unless moderated by HQ) will be posted.
Upon qualifying as a Home Cook, the WeFiFo fee immediately reduces to 15%.
As a highly ranked WeFiFo Home Chef, the host can now charge even more per head. It is recommended that this is between £20 and £25 per head whilst still making sure they offer excellent value for money. The earning opportunity now begins to increase. Not only can the WeFiFo Home Chef earn great income from hosting eight events a month, but they can also earn money from mentoring other aspiring cooks. The best WeFiFo Home Chefs will be given the opportunity to mentor 20 up and coming Home Cooks in their area. Mentoring involves being available for live-click-to-chat sessions, offering valuable tips and advice as well as motivation and inspiration. In addition to the twenty home cooks provided by WeFiFo, The Home Chef will also earn 1% of any income from any cook they recruit into the WeFiFo Family.
The most talented Home Chefs can also earn an additional 1% for management of the business in their area. This will involve secret dining checks, kitchen inspections, awarding certification to help cooks move up the WeFiFood Chain, helping local cooks and chefs with lighting and table settings to improve their offering, and supporting social media and marketing.
Upon qualifying as a WeFiFo Home Chef, the WeFiFo Fee immediately drops to 10%.
The plates have been cleared, the oven switched off, the washing up has been put away… so how did it go?
