The event will run from 6pm till 9pm and the food will be paired with Waitrose wine or beer (2 bottles of beer or 2 glasses of wine per guest).

Let's begin the evening with sharing platters of tapas style starters served with a selection of bread.

Slow roasted tomatoes with a yogurt dressing - roasting does something magical to tomatoes, they take on an intense deep flavour, sprinkled with sea salt and olive oil and served with plenty of bread to dunk.

Roasted peppers with olive oil - roasting does something magical to peppers, sprinkled with sea salt you'll be fighting over the last one!

Balsamic vinegar and olive oil dipping dish

Burrata salad - Burrata is a little bit like mozzarella but with a soft creamy middle.

Then choose a main course of either;

Chicken Puttanesca - I have long been a fan of the Italian puttanesca sauce, this lovely gutsy sauce is supremely good with chicken, the olives had a hint of saltiness to the dish that makes your lips tingle.

Aubergine Puttanesca - as above but the chicken is substituted for thick slices of beautiful aubergine.

Both served on a bed of pasta.

.. and relax, for pudding we have

An Italian classic Tiramisu - my grandma's recipe using strong black coffee-soaked sponge fingers as the base, clouds of whipped mascarpone and sprinkled with dark chocolate - the ultimate dish of decadence.
