Something different - today we are hosting a celebration of all things vegetarian. If you have been to dinner before you will already know that, quite often the dish that steals the show is a vegetarian one so we are bringing all the most popular dishes back and introducing some never been seen before bowls of yumminess.
We are eating Ottolenghi style so everything will come out as quickly as Alan can carry it!
turned into a dazzling, lip shaking salad.
Salads
Anything green with a sweet tahini sauce - broccoli, peas, asparagus and spinach all mixed together in a soy, honey, garlic and tahini dressing, Asia meets the Middle East.
Cucumber and poppy seed salad - ordinary somewhat dull cucumber is given an overdue makeover and
Pink grapefruit and Sumac salad - something about the word "grapefruit" makes people pull funny faces, it's one of those love or hate things. I promise you will never look at this unassuming underused fruit in the same way again.
Eastern slaw - have a think about coleslaw, erase that food memory from your mind then eat this one and make this the one you crave for.
Turkish shepherds salad - tomato, cucumber, herbs and croutons all mixed together in a bowl of sunshine.
Now for the hot stuff
Cauliflower and cumin fritter with lime yogurt - a bit like a pakora these little parcels of joy will make your heart sing, I bet you can't just have one.
Butternut squash with pistachio, feta and pomegranate seeds - Butternut squash is a firm favourite and dinner and has people fighting over the left overs.
Roasted peppers drizzled with olive oil.
Cauliflower cake - first time on the menu and hopefully not the last - if I can get it out of the tin!
Roast baby new potatoes.
For dessert
Meringue - you can't have an Ottolenghi inspired dinner party without them!
Cardamom and rosewater poached pears - heaven on a plate.
If you have room there is a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, figs and biscuits.
Freshly ground coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints. There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
