Join new friends at our big kitchen table for a feast of delicious, mainly traditional Moroccan dishes, with my own twist. It will be colourful, beautifully presented and full of those lovely North African flavours. The food is all homemade, wholesome and naturally good for you!
Welcome:
Homemade mint lemonade cocktail
To start:
Harira - the traditional Moroccan soup served at the start of a meal. It is a delightful, warming broth of tomato, chick pea, zingy lemon and chilli.
Homemade Pitta breads - light and warm.
Hummus - a selection of my own versions, it could be peanut, sundried tomato and paprika, or beetroot...,
Pink pickled vegetables
Mains:
Moroccan spiced Vegetables, on a bed of fluffy Steamed Couscous. Made the traditional way (couscous is steamed in a couscoussier over simmering vegetables and spices) for the best texture and flavour. Served with a hot harissa tomato sauce (optional).
If you haven’t tried Moroccan couscous the authentic way, now’s your chance!
NEW Added dish - Pumpkin, Date and Almond B’stilla (filo pastry parcel with a sweet-savoury layered filling)
Roast Beetroot, Tomato and Olive salad, with (optional) Goats Cheese - a colourful and lively combination.
Spicy Carrot and Fresh Coriander salad - a moroccan-inspired dish from Ottolenghi.
Dessert:
Orange Flower Semolina pudding with Almonds, Figs and Honey - if you don’t like semolina don’t worry, this should change your mind!
To finish:
Fresh Mint Tea, poured traditional style from a silver teapot.
My homemade walnut cookies (if you don’t have room I’ll pop them in a gift bag to take home!)
NB most dishes are suitable for Vegans (or can be adapted if you let me know).
Soft drinks included, BYO wine/beer.

Amani and husband Andy were great hosts making you feel welcome and relaxed (this was my first such event so warm welcome was appreciated and helped set the tone for the evening). The food was very good and Amani was able to explain details of the dish and culture of Sudan. One of the traditions of Sudan is to ensure guests are welcomed and offered plenty of food which Amani certainly delivered on. I would definitely attend another event.
