Join Jack Monroe, food writer, author of just published Tin Can Cook and affordable eating expert, for an evening to celebrate her NEW book. Food will be prepared in collaboration with Masterchef alumni Ingrid Wakeling at the brilliant social enterprise London Cooking Project.
Guests will be able to meet Jack, enjoy three courses of superb food and get a signed copy of Tin Can Cook.
Tin Can Cook, brings together seventy-five recipes that you can rustle up from tinned and dried ingredients. Beautifully designed with accompanying quirky hand-drawn illustrations, this book is for you if you’ve struggled to make a dish because the recipe calls for an exotic ingredient you’ve never heard of. Jack does away with the effort; all her dishes are exciting and new, but you won’t have to look further than your local supermarket to make them.
Starter:
Sardine Rillettes, Sweet n Sour Cannellinis and Chilli Chickpeas with nice bread and cornichons.
Dishes will be served on sharing platters per 4 people.
Mains:
Feijoada OR Butter Bean Cassoulet served with Baby Potatoes & Warm Greens.
Dessert:
Chocolate Pear Cake with Creme Fraiche

This was my first WeFiFo event and I wasn't really sure what to expect; nor have I been to a Literary Supper either! The location was lovely. The author a revelation and the other guests interesting to meet. Unfortunately it was too cold that evening to be outside - we would have been better off in the barn. I enjoyed my food and found my dietary requirements had been well catered for - however for the future I would use a different dairy substitute for the dessert topping - it really didn't work with the posset underneath. I'd recommend the chef looks into using KoKo coconut yoghurt another time (Tescos and other large supermarkets) and/or sheeps yoghurt (Waitrose) which is the closest I've ever found to cream.
