After taking a couple of months to relax and rejuvenate, Gutsy Chutney is back with its first supperclub of 2019.. on March 13th I will be hosting a 5 course dinner paying homage to Indian street food at the gastropub The Jolly Gardeners, in Earlsfield, SW London. Get ready for a lip smacking meal of 5 courses of my favourite street foods from different parts of India.
I miss a lot of things about being back home but after family this has to be pretty darn near the top...and trips to India are so often short on time and high on agenda that we get little time to revisit those memories... of course the lack of immunity from having lived abroad is another reason to resist... Am really looking forward to feeding all of you so book your tickets here https://bit.ly/2Rknf6s
Delhi’s dahi papdi chaat
A favourite from the capital state of crisp savoury tarts filled with boiled potato, chickpeas no less than 4 sauces and spice powders and thick, sweet yoghurt...best eaten whole, for the flavours to really melt in your mouth!!
Momos from the east
Momos are a Tibetan take on the Chinese dumplings now adopted by East and North of India as popular street food. Served with a very fiery red chilli sauce…you have been warned!
Kerala bakery egg puffs
One of the most popular snacks you can find in the bakeries in Kerala are freshly baked spicy Egg Puffs. Flaky and buttery puff pastry wrapped around boiled egg and a Kerala style spicy onion mixture. Perfect to beat those hunger pangs on the way back home from school!
Chorizo pao / Vada pao (V)
A spiced up version of the Pão Recheado com Chouriço (bread stuffed with sausages) in Portugal, Chorizo pao is a Goan street food popular during festivals and celebrations. For the vegetarians is Mumbai’s staple street food, a spiced potato pattie in a burger bun.
Matka kheer
Creamy vermicelli pudding served in little earthern pot...eaten warm or cold this is comfort food at its best

Such a fabulous evening. Deepa’s food is utterly delicious. The tastes were really authentic, very well put together and completing each other. The portions are a good size and the flavours just perfect. Hospitality is first class and we will definitely be back again!

What a fantastic evening! The Indian streetfood was a complete success - so delicious, with gorgeous combinations of flavours and such variety. Loved it! Thank you Deepa and Summit - always fabulous hosts. What a great evening! Beth ps the beautiful painted stones and candles on tables really set the scene.. It didn’t feel like we were in Earlsfield! Love your attention to detail.
