Join Gabriella, the chef behind Little Sambol, at El Vermut for a ‘Short Eats’ Sri Lankan menu.
‘Short Eats’ are the Sri Lankan equivalent of snacks /small plates. Think street food vibes instead of a traditional rice and curry plate.
Expect big flavours of Sri Lanka in every mouthful. Gabriella will be cooking a mix of regional dishes and her own interpretation of her favourite Sri Lankan plates.
The team at El Vermut will be putting together some wine pairings for each of the dishes.
Colombo 14 Paniyaram Scraps
Spiced rice and gram flour fried scraps, coriander chutney, mango+saffron yoghurt, tamarind sauce and fried gram flour noodles.
Crab Cutlets and Jaggery Pickles
Deep fried crab and spiced potato stuffed Panko coated balls - the original Sri Lankan short eat!
Veg option: Jackfruit and Sweet Potato Cutlets
Kottu Roti with Black Lamb Curry
Chopped up roti, leek, egg and Bombay onions topped with a slow cooked lamb curry. Kottu is a classic street food.
Veg option: Aubergine Pirattal Curry
Pandan and Cardamom Burnt Cheesecake, candied cashews and a Pedro Ximenez cream
