Event Information

BWD is delighted to announce that it is working with British Designer and Artist Liam Hopkins, working with the Darwen Community on developing ideas and designs, to create artwork for Darwen Market Square. Liam is keen to work with as many people from Darwen as possible to gain insight in to Darwen’s history and local stories which will inform the design of the work. Come to dinner, meet the artist and help shape the work. *Please note this event is only open to people living/working in DARWEN.

Information from Liam .....

"I am creating a series of artworks for the regeneration of Darwen Market square and I would like you to be involved. I will bring along my mobile studio to the venue and I encourage you to partake. I’m asking people to have their portrait taken or bring along a picture of someone or something that has made an impact on living in Darwen. I will then convert this into a piece of artwork for you to take home and frame or give to someone as a gift. Whilst I create this artwork I would like you to tell me your story about Darwen, why you live here, visited, worked and your connection with this beautiful town. I will then use these portraits, stories and artworks to develop ideas for the Market square."
