We will have just got back from a Middle Eastern adventure to Abu Dhabi with a suitcase full of ingredients so please be aware that there will be an extra couple of dishes, savoury and sweet, the following dishes will definitely make an appearance . . . .

Roasted Red Onions with a Walnut Salsa - Not sure this needs much explanation red onions are roasted and dotted with some soft goats cheese and drizzled with the warm dressing. Bish, bash, bosh .

Roasted Tomatoes with cumin, chilies and cloves - Don't panic this dish nearly always sets of the fire alarm and has me coughing and spluttering in the kitchen - is it worth it? Oh yes, you will be fighting over the pan juices.

Roasted cauliflower with a tomato, rose harissa and honey marinade dotted with creme fraiche, tahini and lemon dressing - roasting does something magical to cauliflower and this recipe has people who don't like cauliflower falling in love with what can be a dull white vegetable.

Roasted Chicken served on a bed of crunchy greens with a sweet tahini dressing.

Kofta b'siniyah - This little parcels of meaty joy will make your heart sing - cinnamon, all spice, nutmeg, black pepper, pine nuts and garlic are massage into the mince and allowed to marinate for a few hours before being rolled into balls and fried. Once cooked they are served on a bed of the most sumptuous sauce made from tahini, lemon, garlic, butter and sweet paprika - you are going to want to move in!

Alan is going to make his sexy Persian rice - this is a little bit of work, compared to regular white rice, but it is so worth it - the crispy crunchy butter topping is a total delight (as is Alan!)

For pudding we have warm, gooey, straight out of the oven chocolate brownies served with cream and ice cream.

Then there is the mega cheeseboard - we are going to make a special trip to Waitrose for tonight. There will be a selection of foreign and local cheese some hard, some soft - so soft they are practically gooey served with grapes, walnuts, figs, biscuits, membrillo, a plethora of biscuits.

Fresh coffee served with a variety of after dinner mints - not just after eights - tonight we will bring out the posh stuff. There is also Yorkshire tea, mint tea, green tea, liquorice tea, pomegranate and apple tea and decaf coffee if anyone wants one.
